AI filmmaking for shorts, features and series

Make your film.
Scene by scene.

Develop your screenplay, cast your characters and shape each shot in one AI production workspace. Keep your references, takes and edit decisions together as your film evolves.

  • Your script, cast and shots together
  • Review and compare takes
  • Continue in your editing software

Develop a script and 2K storyboard stills in a one-time guided evaluation with up to 150 introductory credits. No credit card required. Generation limits apply; the allowance does not renew. It also includes one free, watermarked 5-second video shot at 720p. More video and audio need a membership or a credit pack.

The work behind every shot, kept together.

Compare takes, prepare production documents, gather scene feedback and organize files for your editor as you build the film.

  • A still-take similarity score for review. Score supported still takes against your character references on a 0–100 scale, where 70 passes and 85 is strong. Compare takes side by side in Dailies, and include an Identity Consistency Report with the production export.
  • Keep the production documents with your film. Twelve sections built from your project: contacts, schedule, scene breakdown sheets, call sheets, a day-out-of-days, a budget estimate, props, costume, sound cues, blocking, lighting cues and director’s notes. Review and export the book as PDF with the production package.
  • Continue the edit in your own software. Prepare timeline files for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve with available source media, stems, captions and production documents. Check relinking after import; grades, framing, titles, transitions and audio fades may need to be rebuilt.
  • Review the planned emotional pace. Watch the cut as an animatic, trim it, compare scene timing with the planned beat structure and request reviewable pacing notes.
  • Gather feedback on your scenes. Share cloud-saved scene footage or stills and available image alternatives. Reviewers comment without an account. The preview follows scene order and excludes the manual timeline, soundtrack, titles and final grade.

Choose how each scene comes to life.

Write, cast, generate and edit in the same workspace. Choose from the engines available on your plan, with the generation charge shown before you start.

Seven stages, one project

  1. Develop the script: Work from a brief, an outline, photos or your own draft. Refine scenes, dialogue and structure before spending on footage.
  2. Define the visual direction: Cast the characters, build the sets and choose the camera, lens and film-stock look. Use material you have permission to upload.
  3. Plan the production: Break the script into shots and organize the production book. Select an engine and generation settings for each shot.
  4. Generate and select takes: Generate footage from the project references and scene direction. Inspect each take for motion, continuity and unwanted artifacts; keep the takes you want to edit.
  5. Build the sound: Generate or import dialogue, music and effects, then place them against the picture. Check source rights and voice permissions.
  6. Shape the edit: Arrange selected clips, adjust pacing and build the cut. Keep project material together as the sequence develops.
  7. Validate the delivery: Prepare the media, timelines and production documents, then open the package in the editing or delivery environment you intend to use.

The backlot

  • 430 ready-to-cast characters. 300 animated characters and 130 photoreal actors, each with a multi-view turnaround, expression sheet or physique chart, plus 61 talent profiles. Matching a library character does not start a new reference-generation job; scene images and footage still use credits.
  • 449 locations. 169 photoreal location plates and 280 animated-world sets across 26 cities and biomes. Each animated set is scouted in four shots, and eateries, homes and bookstores have night versions.
  • 1,665 asset presets. 333 props, 333 vehicles, 333 wardrobe pieces, 333 animals, 333 set dressing pieces, ready to place in a scene. Any hero prop can get a six-angle turnaround for Prop Identity Lock.

Make room for the story you want to tell.

Make an independent movie, short film, series episode or experimental work on your own terms. The optional story method helps you explore character, choice and connection during preproduction. You can create without it and begin directly with your screenplay.

  1. Choose your intention. Decide what you want to explore and what you want the audience to leave thinking about.
  2. Find a throughline. Name what changes from the beginning to the end of the scene.
  3. Give someone agency. Explore what a character wants, what stands in the way and which choice matters.
  4. Earn connection. Let action, consequence and relationships carry the emotional turn.
  5. Protect trust. Treat real people with care. Check facts and permissions when your story draws on their lives.

Kama muta offers one way to review moments of connection in a script. Editorial scores guide revision; audience response still needs to be tested. Read the optional method or start your script and storyboard. For company production, explore Lumier Studios.

A workspace for the film you keep developing.

Lumier brings scene planning, character references, alternate takes and production documents together. It fits creators who want to direct each scene and continue refining the edit in their own software.

Memberships for your production

  • Director: $49/month, 800 monthly production credits.
  • Studio: $149/month, 3,000 monthly production credits.
  • Production: $449/month, 10,000 monthly production credits.
  • Cinema: $1,299/month, 30,000 monthly production credits.

New paid memberships include a separate monthly allowance for Gemini scripts and analysis; usage limits apply. Your account shows the remaining allowance. Image, video and audio generation, along with Claude and Director’s Cut scripts, use production credits. The charge depends on the operation, engine, settings and duration. Review the displayed charge before starting. New media takes and AI media revisions use additional credits. Editing saved material remains available. A timeline limit is editing capacity, not a promise of that many generated minutes.

Before you begin

What is Lumier Pictures?

Lumier Pictures is an AI filmmaking workspace for independent shorts, features, series episodes and other scripted projects. Develop a screenplay, cast characters, generate shots and shape the edit, with your references and takes kept together through revision.

Can I try the studio without a credit card?

Develop a script and 2K storyboard stills in a one-time guided evaluation with up to 150 introductory credits. No credit card required. Generation limits apply; the allowance does not renew. It also includes one free, watermarked 5-second video shot at 720p. More video and audio need a membership or a credit pack. You can keep editing and accessing your saved projects after the allowance is used. Existing trials retain their original end date.

Which plan do I need for my film?

Director supports short projects with a 5-minute timeline capacity. Studio adds Seedance video engines and a 30-minute timeline capacity. Feature, TV pilot, series episode and mini-series script formats require Production or Cinema, including episodes under 40 minutes. Those plans also allow script runtimes over 40 minutes. Timeline capacity is separate from the credits needed to generate footage and retakes.

How does Lumier keep characters consistent?

Identity Lock turns a portrait into a facial description and an eight-angle turnaround that can be attached to supported shot prompts. Props can use six-angle turnarounds, sets can use four-view location sheets, and still takes can be scored 0–100 against the cast. Generated results still vary, so review each shot and allow for retakes.

How much does a finished film cost?

It depends on the footage, images, sound, revisions and rejected takes. Scripts draw on an included Gemini allowance; image, video and audio generation use production credits, and each job shows its charge before it starts. Plan a short scene first, review its usage, then budget the full production.

Can I finish in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve?

Export the available source media, timeline files and production documents for your editor. Check relinking after import and rebuild grades, framing, titles, transitions and audio fades where needed. The handoff is a starting point for finishing; it does not reproduce every browser edit effect.

What resolution can I deliver?

Source video shots can render at up to 1080p on plans with an available engine. Studio, Production and Cinema also support eligible stills up to 4K. The evaluation produces 2K storyboard stills. The browser review render is limited to 1280 pixels on its long edge; export the source clips and timeline files to finish in your editing software.

Can other people review my scenes?

Share a review link to cloud-saved scene footage or stills, with available image alternatives. Reviewers can leave comments without creating an account. The review page follows scene order; it does not show the manual timeline, soundtrack, titles or final grade.

Can I use the output commercially?

Paid memberships permit commercial use subject to the selected model, uploaded materials and asset licenses. You are responsible for the necessary rights and permissions. An account membership does not clear third-party rights.

Do I have to use the human story method?

No. Independent filmmakers can develop a short, feature, series episode or other scripted project directly from their own idea or screenplay. Optional preproduction questions help you explore character, choice and connection when useful. You decide which feedback to use.

Which AI models does Lumier use?

Video shots render with Seedance 2.5 and Seedance 2.0 on Studio, Production and Cinema. Stills render with Seedream 5.0 and Seedream 5.0 Pro, or GPT Image. Voices, music and sound effects use ElevenLabs, and scripts are written and analyzed with Gemini 3.1 Pro and Gemini 3.5 Flash. Scene Studio shows the engine and the credit charge before you generate.
